Six Newly Appointed Judges Sworn In.

President\r\nYoweri Kaguta Museveni on April 29, 2014 officiated at the swearing in of six\r\nnewly appointed Judges of the High Court and Industrial Court. The President challenged\r\nthe Hon. Judges in particular and the Judiciary at large to eliminate\r\ncorruption from the judicial service. The President also appealed to the\r\njudicial service to carry out their duties with the redemption of people in\r\nmind.

\r\n\r\n

The\r\nJudges were appointed on February 24, bringing the number of Judges of High\r\nCourt to 57. The ceremony was held at State House, Entebbe and conducted by the\r\nChief Registrar Paul Gadenya.

\r\n\r\n

The new Judges included:

\r\n\r\n

1. Chief\r\nJudge of the Industrial Court, Hon. Justice Asaph Ruhinda Ntengye

\r\n\r\n

2. Hon.\r\nLady Justice Linda Lillian Tumusiime Mugisha assigned to the Industrial Court

\r\n\r\n

3. Hon.\r\nLady Justice Margaret Mutonyi – High Court

\r\n\r\n

4. Hon.\r\nJustice David Matovu – High Court

\r\n\r\n

5. Hon.\r\nLady Justice Patricia Basaaza Wasswa - High Court

\r\n\r\n

6. Hon.\r\nLady Justice Jessica Naiga Ayebare- High Court

\r\n\r\n

The\r\nPresident congratulated the new Judges upon their appointment and wished them\r\nsuccess in their numerous assignments.

\r\n\r\n

The Acting Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Steven Kavuma who\r\nwas also present at the function, thanked President Museveni for appointing the\r\nnew Judges and also for his decision to improve terms of service and\r\nremunerations of the Hon. Judges. He called on them to observe the highest ethical\r\nstandards of the Court.

The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Deputy\r\nAttorney General, Hon. Fred Ruhindi and the Head of Public Service, Mr. John\r\nMitala.
